Home Layout

The cottage is accessible for people who are reasonably able to manage stairs. Adaptations are not possible due to the age and layout of the cottage. However many guests with disabilities have enjoyed their say at Tan-y-Rhiw.

Approach to the cottage

Off road pull-in for safety. Gated driveway with secure gates.

Car parking

Level area for up to four cars.

Access from car park

Pathway leads to five steps.

Outside lighting

Dust to dawn lighting is provided on the pathway and steps leading to the cottage from the car park.

Garden areas

Enclosed secluded terraced gardens with gated woodland access.

Inside flooring

The kitchen, shower room and utility have tiled floors all other living areas are timber floors with rugs.

Ground floor living area

Dining room, kitchen, shower room and utility areas are all on one level.

Kitchen facilities

Large Kitchen with units at standard height, central table and chairs.

Shower room

Toilet and wash basin at standard height, shower is a step in corner unit.

Lounge

There are four steps up with narrow doorway into the lounge from the dining room. No handrail possible.

Twin bedroom, ground floor

Level access from lounge.

Bathroom, ground floor

One step up into room with narrow doorway. Toilet and wash basin at standard height.

Bedrooms

Three upstairs bedrooms accessed from two stairways. One staircase from the kitchen, standard width with a landing  and handrail. One narrow staircase from the dining room with landing and handrail.

Switches and sockets

Electrical switches and sockets are at standard height, switches are 1.5 metres and socket at 0.4 metres  or thereabout above floor levels.

Inside lighting

The lighting meets tourist board standard or above with many rooms having a variety of lighting choices, table lamps, spot lighting and chandeliers, all with energy efficient bulbs.

TV, Video, DVD, CD and Wi-Fi

TV, Video, DVD, CD have remote controls.

Pay phone facilities are available.
